Designed to develop the individual's ability to comprehend internal and external social, legal, political, and economic forces as they affect the decision-making process within the organization, the program has been structured to serve both holders of baccalaureate degrees in business as well as other disciplines. Classes are offered one night per week. Students are required to participate in weekly learning team activities which are designed to enhance the learning process and the development of problem-solving skills.
The Bachelor of Science in Management is the newest undergraduate degree and focuses on building interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively manage or supervise, directly or indirectly, the work of others. Each student's learning experience culminates with the completion of a service project or plan illustrating his/her ability to make a significant contribution to the business world. As with all course work in the School of Professional and Adult Studies, students are encouraged to use their class assignments to solve real work dilemmas.
The Master of Arts in Education program is designed specifically for the professional educator. The M.A.Ed. Integrates academic coursework with practical teaching applications from a Christian worldview. Focus is placed on philosophical and psychological learning theory, appropriate instructional strategies, critical thinking, and contemporary issues and assessment. Course work includes a high degree of personal involvement in the student's learning process and is directed toward the development of materials, resources, strategies and solutions for today's classroom. Should be specific as to the K-6 nature of this degree.
The MBA program has produced some award winning consultants and is focused on developing the problem solving and analytical skills necessary for effectiveness in public and private industry. Students complete a comprehensive consulting project, working with real small businesses and the NCTDC, applying their course knowledge and providing a service to local small businesses. Small classes create an ideal learning environment where those of varying backgrounds thrive on educational interaction. The curriculum helps students reach their full potential by using on the job what is learned in the classroom.
The MSML degree is designed for adult learners with a qualitative focus developing the skills needed to excel professionally as a manger, but more specifically as a leader and to meet personal goals. This graduate degree seeks to prepare students in maximizing their potential as individuals, preparing them for leadership positions and achieving organizational excellence in today's competitive marketplace. The curriculum is designed to address all facets of management including: leaders as individuals (self), the relationship with the organizational members and stakeholders (others), as the head of the organization (as part of an open system) and strategy builders (competitive advantage). Each student will further develop his/her critical thinking abilities, analytical skills, interpersonal capabilities and problem solving techniques. This degree is a compliment to the Bachelor of Science in Management.
